the king of instruments through the ages

Friday, November 7 - 7:30 p.m.

Martin Dicke, Sherry Seckler, and Mary Ragna Yetter, organ

Free (a free-will offering will be taken)

The American Guild of Organists has declared 2008-09 to be the International Year of the Organ. The organ is a marvelous instrument that provides a full palette of sounds from reeds and brass to flutes and strings. For this reason, along with its sheer size, it is appropriately called "The King of Instruments." In this concert, Trinity's Cantor Martin Dicke will team up with local organ virtuosos Sherry Seckler and Mary Ragna Yetter to present a widely varied and entertaining program that illustrates how composers have used these sounds through the centuries. Music from the Middle Ages through the 21st century will be presented. Following the concert, concert goers will be invited to the balcony to see the organ firsthand and enter the organ chambers.
